PRELIM EXAM (DAY 2)

Posted by: Nhin

Tuesday, 26th of July.
It was a wet morning. Cold. Raining.
I have one exam for today and I woke up at 3am to do paperworks on Circuits 1, which is Problem Sets No. 2 & 3, the most prevalent paperworks among Engineering students. It took me about 3hours for that PS.
I didn’t review for Statics because I planned to do it during my one hour vacant. Anyway, I was confident enough because Sir Mendoza instructed us that he’ll only give one item about Moment thingy.
I was in a hurry that morning. I slept unconsciously and realized it was already around 7 am (I should’ve started preparing for school 30 min ago). I was then hesitant to go to school because of the bad weather. I’m not contented with flat 3, OK? So I have to freaking pass all the requirements on time. I went to school, neglecting the heavy rain. Along the way I was bothered to get stranded anywhere at Q. Ave and Espania. You know what about it? Those roads are prone to flood, and all. Water started rising at Sto. Domingo. Good thing the Fx driver fearlessly sloped in the flooded road. But then I was stuck in a heavy traffic.
My first subject started 9am but I arrived at school approximately 10am. I didn’t attend the class though. I just did approached Ma’am Pahadi after class and gave her my PS. She accepted my paper after hearing my alibi. *laughs*
10:30am. At EN 406. Differential Equation (DE) class.
The professor had a grand entrance. Everyone felt that we gonna do nothing on his class because of his statement announced at Facebook:
He rather gave us seat work. We were not required to pass it, though. COOL PROF! :D
He went out the room and the moment he got back, he said “Alright. Classes are suspended effective 12nn onwards. You may now go home.”
All yelled, “YES!!!!!!!!”

Turbulent Changes

Posted by: Nhin

This is, yknow, something bothered me.
Ma’am Austria had a farewell talk last Friday (July 29). She filed a leave of absence within this whole semester. Though, she is tough and terror, the class had a feeling of loss. She teaches unbiasedly, and professionally. So I had doubts. What if the replacement professor is, yknow. What if… what if? She left us in mess, indeed.
Monday (Aug. 1) came and we met the substitute prof. He’s a side liner instructor from other school (I’m not gonna mention the school, OK). And changes came in sequence. Detailing,
  • the Lab Experiment Report is now individually. Before, that was in pair.
  • before, performing the experiment is held by batch, and the report will be submitted after two weeks. But, now. Hell! Two batches were merged and the report is to be submitted the next meeting (a week after).
  • We are now mandatory to provide electronics box (a tool box) with diodes, and all.
  • and the lecturer is doing another approach in teaching the class.
This ain’t complaint. Just commenting about Monday turbulence! Kthnxbye. :)

PRELIM WEEK (DAY 1)

July 25-29.
This was supposedly my ideal Prelim Exam Schedule:
25, Monday

  • Basic Thermodynamics
  • Vector Analysis
  • Electronics 1
26, Tuesday

  • Statics Of Rigid Bodies
27, Wednesday

  • *none
28, Thursday

  • Circuits 1
  • Differential Equation
29, Friday

  • *none
Monday, 25th.
3:00am.
I set my two phone’s alarm clock to force myself to be up that early. I didn’t review the night before so I have to get up from bed. I conditioned myself. No one was awake, obviously, only me. I grabbed my things, the review materials, notes and books. Thermodynamics book was then on my hand, staring at it, querying. The hell! I didn’t absorb anything. Nothing more. It took me 3 hours only to that subject.
6:00am.
I was quiet tardy and sleepy. I fell asleep, took a nap.
6:30am.
My usual call time to prepare for school. I was then bothered. I have 3 exams (supposedly) but I got managed to review for only one subject.
9:00am.
Waiting outside the room. We even overcrowd the hallway at 4th floor. The boys was jokingly noodled at me saying, “Nag-aral ka? Pakopya kami ah.” At the back of my mind, “Do I look genius? Or what?”
I received the test paper, and I was like, “What the~. What’s this?” (more like, “Everything wasn’t thought.”)
10:30am. At Electronics Laboratory.
Experiment No. 2 for that session. About Rectifiers to be exact. Engr. Austria (our professor) entered the room.
“OK! By five minutes, all reports should be on my desk. Late papers won’t be accepted. Double time guys! Bring out your Multitap Transformer, get the borrow slip, then setup your table.”
She was like a lightning with thunder clashed our slumbering nerve cells. Everyone panicked, like a military group bombed in their base camp.
“What’s wrong guys?” Ma’am asked.
“We wasn’t able to bring our Multitap.” A synchronized answer from us.
“Nothing to argue, nor discuss. If you doesn’t have, leave the room now!” A rude statement from her.
We have no choice. Almost half the class left the room, included our group.
Three hours vacant… Spent at the library, a sort of review on Vector Analysis.
2:30pm. Vector Analysis exam.
Epic fail. The prof. didn’t arrived. In short, absent. It was so awkward, because that means, the exam was then rescheduled, prolonging the agony!
3:30pm. Electronics exam.
Ma’am Austria prepared two questions only. Fifty points each. I didn’t manage to answer number 1, and number 2 was slightly in doubt. Tss.
4:30pm onwards.
I was sooo drained, felt overdo and restless.

Nothing Was New, I Thought

Posted by: Nhin

I don't actually take nature as my subject on my photographs. I rather prefer myself as one. What a vain. *laughs*

Kidding aside, the mere reason is that, I've been seeing pure nature in my 7 years in the province. Seashore was just 10 cars away from school. Coconut trees and different kinds of plants are anywhere else. I turn left, right, about face, it’s all there. We even have a backyard full of crops, vegetables, and flowering plants. I'm used to it. Nothing was new. No reason to be amazed.

Until one day, I came back to the main city of the land, Manila. I was just a fresh graduate from High School way back then. It was me, seeking for new surroundings. I went to college, and stayed in the city for good. Yeah, for good.

I remembered a conversation with a classmate:
"You're from Samar, right?" Joseph confirmed.
"Yes. Why?" I responded on him. Clueless.
"So you have hundreds of beaches' photos?" he exaggerates.
"No. I have none." I said.
"What? You must've even one. You were just beside Pacific Ocean." he explained.
"That's the point. It was common. Nothing was new." I answered.

Two years had passed, without glimpse in the province. I'm already exposed to a busy street, traffic highways, too many beggars and snatcher around, the 'hepa foods' (my friends actually call street foods as that). What more? Oh! The air pollution is all around.

April 6, 2011

Finally! I'm home. After a year has been twice, I came home, backed home. Look what I got.

GOD is so genius having such a creation like this.
